Client Challenges:

The client desired a comparison of their existing customer data mart against data warehousing best practices. They needed a review of requirements, designs, tools, reports and analytics and sought recommendations for the future support of marketing, geographic information systems and other departments’ needs for consolidated customer information.

Messina’s Approach:

Messina Group used best practices to design logical and physical data mart data storage schemas. We installed software, and developed programs for extracting, transforming and loading customer,  underwriting and claims data and implemented an intuitive reporting software environment to enable business users to perform pre-canned reporting and ad-hoc analysis. Additionally, we assisted client in evaluating and selecting a data mining toolset to better uncover fraudulent activity.


The client’s executives had improved ability to make decisions due to operational data availability in days instead of weeks. This led to an improved ability to monitor efficiency gains in the underwriting and claims processes. Messina led the client in identifying opportunities for ongoing improvement in marketing and underwriting by documenting a future vision for data mart development.
